I received some interesting advice last week 
My YC had a guest speaker from one of the major towing concerns covering NY harbor and Western Long Island Sound. During Q & A he was asked in case of an emergency is it best to call the CG on Ch 16 or hail him by name? He responded "in case of a emergency call 911. You'll have a faster more coordinated response." This advise riled the traditionalists, yet its something to think about.

- Makes sense. Some of the exchanges with the CG heard on VHF have bordered on disturbing.
