Many communities are now using single stream recycling, so you only need to separate the organic items and those that can't be recycled. Unfortunately composite boats are one of those things that still end up in landfills. Recently I saw an interesting show on The Science Channel about single stream recycling, and they took viewers through a San Francisco plant where they separate it all out.
