... version of the grill. I take the whole infrared thing with a grain of salt, as the only difference is that they place a screen above the diffuser and call it IR.
For what it's worth, you can purchase the screens and convert any non infrared version Magma to the infrared version (they do not make screens for the Kettle versions though). Magma actually says the screens purpose is to improve heat distribution (makes sense) and flameout in big wind.
I have noticed (measured) that the grill does get quite hot at the grates on high. This even though it is using about 1/2 the amount of propane used by the former Parker or our Tec grill (too big for our boat...).
I like to use any grill at home first as much as possible before taking it to the boat. They all have different personalities that have to be discovered to best utilize them. So far the Magma is proving easy to use, predictable and is doing what I expect. As I learn more I will post back on my experiences. We are marinating a nice flank steak for tonight.... Looking forward to dinner!
