It is actually on the other side of the freeway and past the railroad tracks... So close, yet so far.
Coronado Brewing company is just off of the Tecolote Road/Morena Blvd intersection, on Knoxville in a bit of an industrial area... and not exactly along a very bicycle friendly route. Seaworld drive is a 55MPH arterial road that crosses the interstate and turns into Tecolote road... but the traffic can be somewhat intimidating there as all the folks exiting Seaworld are jocking to get on the interstate freeway and are tired and somewhat distracted by screaming children. Also the traffic pattern for Tecolote road to Morena is a bit odd as one must stay in the left lane to go straight at the stopsign after stoplight.
Quite frankly when I am biking and down by the bay and my boat, I stay on the bike path and go west down by Mission Bay channel (right at Quivira Basin where my boat is...) and go across the Sunset Cliffs bridge (on the nice bike path there) and continue west to OB, then I leave the bike path through the athletic field and get on Bacon street and head down about 14 blocks on this quiet street to Pizza Port... where they not only serve great microbrew but good pizza. You could also stay on the path, ride right to the west end, go through the parking lot, gaze longingly at the bathing suit crowd, and then weave your way back to Bacon street. All vastly safer than taking on the motor vehicle traffic of Morena or Seaworld drive.
So Pizza port is a slight detour off the Mission Bay bike path... and short jaunt into OB... I highly recommend it for a quick pit stop.
