Interesting that we don't discuss sailing much here

mostly the discussion is about people and boats/systems/maintenance. But the sailing is special.

My wife and I took the afternoon off to sail Monday and the wind was light (5-10) the temps were comfortable and we had LIS mostly to ourselves, it being a week day. We reached out and back, with the AP set to track the wind, and had dinner in the cockpit while under sail. Not many power boat wakes or commercial traffic either, so we could relax our watch a bit. It wasn't exciting but it was very relaxing, and the boat sailed well even without deploying any light air specialty sails.

Now and then I consider the idea of a small trawler in the 31-36 foot range, and a day like that just makes such thinking seem like a foolish idea. Yes the sunset view is the same for all of us no matter the boat. In a power boat you can enjoy being on the water and at anchor, but can you really enjoy being underway to the extent you can under sail? I doubt it.
