Re: Does that mean it's a fluke when you can sail? Heheheheheheh...I'm so easily amused.

I mean "don't depend on predictable breezes..."

In So Cal I could pretty well depend on the wind coming up at around 11AM daily. I could plan on it. (and did, often)

Here in PNW, about the only thing I can plan on are the currents... the wind may not exist (from a sailors standpoint) for days at a time... and I have yet been able to predict the wind on any particular day... This BTW is very consistent with the words right out of my of one of my old sailing books (America's Sailing Book -- Bill Robinson - 1976) with regard to the PNW...

"A rich mine of cruising opportunities lies in the Pacific Northwest from Puget Sound on into British Columbia and, for the ruggedly adventurous, all the way into Alaska, but much of the area is more suited to powerboats than cruising auxiliaries because of the strong tidal currents and long periods of light air."

Or as a sailing friend of mine in Bellingham states... "there's two kinds of wind here: either none, or too much."

That said, yesterday was great. GRIN
