Probably easier than the instrument panel you just built

I have a similar situation, an oddly shaped space that no stock panel would fit and building your own is significantly cheaper. Circuit breakers make for a much neater wiring job but I haven't regretted going with fuses. I did upgrade to modern ATC type. The fuse blocks are inexpensive and readily available in several configurations. I don't have a lot of faith in the tubular glass fuse holders, particularly those cheesy inline plastic things.
