My grandfather was a sailor, raced starboats in Detroit in the early 1900's, My father grew up sailing out of Detroit Yacht club, his first boat after I came around was an Interlake. Once I was old enough to wander around on my own he would take me out with him and tie a leash on me so I couldn't fall overboard! from there on out I loved sailing, I grew up on Lake Erie, started in dinghies, and graduated to larger boats. ended up being a racing maniac with a bunch of crazy buddies, doing all the long distance racing we could cram in during the summer. Our best trophy was Boat of the Year Lake Erie 1974.
Needless to say I was hooked. The sad part is now that I'm grown and making a living at repairing boats, I haven't been under sail in several years! And it really sucks! But at least I managed to break the 100,000 mile mark in my time out there, and no one can ever take that away:)!!
When in doubt, reef her!!
