Then my dad built a plywood Sailfish, and we sailed and raced that as kids. It even went with us when we moved to Vermont.
The same sort of immersion has been our childrens early years as well. I know it's a part of their lives now, they'll be no escape from it.
I'm now, here on the coast of Maine. There's no doubt that's because sailing. That situation is not rare in this area either, I've found.
That's how big boats and sailing can be in some lives.
