I had the Honda 1000 and it was surprising what it would not run, I moved up to the Honda 2000, and am very happy with it. The start up current of a lot of thing is a problem with the H 1000. No experience with the Yamaha.
Not sure it is quieter than running the engine for people around you but it is quieter for you. I hate it when people run at sunset or night for their micro wave or what ever reason.
