I think people need to consider the situation and try not to bother others. In any case, I think it's rude do use it at the time when people are most likely to be hanging out in the cockpit enjoying the scenery (eg morning coffee or evening dinner/sundowner). Unfortunately many of the people who have them choose to run it while they're doing those things too. There's the rub.
