to spend years in the VERY HOT Sea of Cortez with a refrigerator. Our first was a Norcold that I built in. It used 4 Ah running and I used very good insulation. We are now using an Engel that only uses 2.6 or so Ah running and the insulation it has is very good!

That is why I advocate the use of just a shelf in the boat (galley) to put one of the portable units on. Then the next time they make something that only uses half the power, it's an EASY fix!

This low power usage unit makes a "major charging issues" unnecessary!
