I chose a new floating VHF over PLB
In Response To: Anybody have a good read on VHF DSC and AIS? ()
Bought a Standard Horizon floating model with built-in GPS (and DSC) that I clip to my belt when I leave the cockpit. If I become a MOB it will help me talk the Admiral through rescuing me, and/or enable me to call for outside help. Bear in mind my sailing is coastal. I think it's a better solution that will get quicker assistance.
Personal AIS isn't there yet, and who's watching for that?

- BTW why take an EPIRB... when fish box will do...
