15 minutes into the Annapolis show on Friday, I overheard a sales rep asked the question that pretty much says it all...

Regarding the Isara 50 catamaran:

"Does it have a JOYSTICK?"

I really think it's about time this show should be re-named... Something like the UNITED STATES CHARTER CATAMARAN & SAILBOAT SHOW, perhaps?

Unbelievable, what a shell of its former glory this show has become. If it weren't for the massive presence of charter cats, the entire show could now be fit within the friendly confines of Ego Alley.... Hell, the show had to call local brokers, and invite them to show brokerage boats, to fill up much of the empty space on the outside of the perimeter dock fronting the harbor...

Even the One Percenter's Faberge Egg Daysailers are no longer showing up... Morris, for instance, was conspicuous by their absence. It's amazing how little there is of any "distinction" any more at Annapolis, or how few of the boats I saw this year I would actually care to own. Sure, there's still the Gunboat and Outbound 46, the H-R 40, Sabre 456 and many others that I regard as wonderful boats, but the sort of "settling" of the industry seems painfully apparent to me...

These Stairways to Heaven probably rate as the dumbest thing I saw this weekend... How would you like to try to keep that ridiculous array of patterned stainless on those twin stairways shiny, and water spot-free? LMAO!

best regards,

Jon
