and avoid them... but it takes a focused eye... looking for hazards. Good charts help.
My suggestion regarding day marks is that hazards that are hit regularly and are in passages to harbors or marinas should be marked... either with a day mark or with a channel marker.
However Gail pointed out that there is a wider route just to the south, so perhaps that is one reason this unmarked route is overlooked... it is for "experienced locals" only... and a moment's distraction, well oops, too bad.
