Having said that, that's a place you only have to glance at a chart to know that you really want be careful.
They were Zooming (as in moving quickly) rather that zooming (as in looking at your chartplotter).

That Hylas had all the bells and whistles right at the helm -- they just weren't paying attention. Maine rewards such practices with a 'boom' that isn't attached (for much longer) to the mast ;^))))
While I really don't like the Hylas 70 (as opposed to somewhat less 'BIG' 50' sisters), the hull apparently held-up surprisingly well as Tom observed and provided visual evidence. Slamming into a ledge at 7 knots with a full rig up driving you must have been quite a jolt.
