Tom won't need a strap for the clew

His clew is attached directly to a car on the boom. The car is adjusted fore and aft by virtue of a long screw. There is no play allowing the clew to pull up and away from the boom. Mine is similar insofar as utilizing a car on a track, and there is no need for a strap.

I do agree that his jiffy reefing lines might tend to chafe where they wrap around the boom, and perhaps a few short bronze half-rounds would protect the varnish.

I loved switching to a boat with a full-battened and loose-footed main. The sail sets better, furls easier, and barely luffs when head to wind.
