I would think it would be problematic if only in the fastening. And then the hatch, etc. I'm pretty excited about making the boat sail better and especially, sail easier.

But with an old boat, you have to concede you'll never make it handle sails as easily as can be designed and built today. The returns start to diminish or you get more drastic and replace spars with Faux wood carbon fiber. That's a place I'm not going.
