You specifically were arguing resolution and now you changed it to physical size. So we agree that there is no meaningful resolution issue?

The point I was making to Jon was that raster and paper charts contained the same data and information at all levels. This was in the context that vector and paper charts do not contain the same at all zoom levels.

Now we are simply debating eyesight. I don't agree with you that your proposed example is meaningful. No more so than using common half-scale charts, guide books, etc. I have an imagination failure when it comes to navigating with only a single large scale paper chart and needing it to fill a kitchen table in order to stay safe. I don't see the point at all of an exercise of needing to find all hazards in an area in one minute - that's not navigation, that is academics.

I just pulled up Penobscott Bay on my tablet and find no issues. I hope Tom stays safe out there with his phone...
