We faced the same sort of decision

A variety of medical problems and the inevitability of age, made it clear to us that Carol would be essentially out of sailing, boat maintenance, and all associated activities. It was tha main factor that led to sale of our Alberg 35. I still sail the IF boat, singlehanded or with friends, and we have found other things to do together. Getting out of sailing as a couple was not as big a deal as some might think. There are other things, and many alternative paths to contentment and a fulfilling life. The relationship is always more important than the activity, even sailing. In retrospect, neither of us feel that we have "lost" anything. We've just moved along a different path. Life is not on rails. It's more like one of our low country rivers, that meanders as it will. Treasure life as it is. End of sermon. Best to you both.
