One thing we found out about ourselves when we left cruising, and no longer pulled the boat for the winter and only had 3-4 months of enjoyment during the summer, was that we no longer cared much about cleaning and polishing.
You will now find us with a bit chalky decks, hulls that have only a few spots of wax doggedly sticking and forming a visual patchwork with the dull unwaxed majority, a small fish blood stain on the back step that the sun will bleach out in another week, some bird droppings at the base of the mast that the next rain will mostly wash away, and a bit of surface rust on the stanchions that just won't stay well-polished for more than a year.
