Was a real bitch here on the Gulf Coast also. We were over in the Fl. panhandle, and needed to get it back to New Orleans area before Ida hit. Got really lucky with two days of pretty decent weather before it got here. Made a mad dash for home, and made it with about 12 hours to spare, before the weather really headed for the crapper. I know Jon would make fun of us, but winds were fairly light, and we were in a serious hurry, so motor sailed 12 hours straight for two days. Winds 10 knots or less, basically from dead astern. Predictions were for seas of 20 to 25 feet offshore, and winds to 60 knots. Protected waters extremely rough. Made it to the dock early Sunday morning, and by noon it was blowing pretty good. Ended up with not nearly as much surge as predicted, but it did blow pretty good for a few hours.
