if one stands on Castle Hill in Newport annually on or about November 1st, there is a practically a flotilla of boats heading in the general direction of Bermuda to then turn south to the Virgins or Antigua. The Caribbean 1500 is off from Norfolk in a direction kind of towards Bermuda before the turn south. I'm not clear on how one gets to the Virgins or Caribbean without taking a route that get you near Bermuda. I guess from Beaufort, NC one could lay the Virgins if you really like going to weather.
