And you're in the Upper NE...then you'll as governed by fog and current as anything else.
I would suggest that the dog will probably govern in terms of time ;^) -- and the kids and your bride will find that amenible. If your cruising average is 5-6 knots -- either motoring or sailing, then I'd suggest that 25 mile days would probably make the most sense. That would about 5 hour cruises or so.
As others have asked, David -- Are you going East and South -- along Maine to Massachuesetts?
