What works better than sunbrella?

Had new sunbrella dodger on our boat in spring 1995. Spent a year with it in San Diego and three in Mexico - still pretty waterproof when I replaced the sunbrella in summer 2008. I never once treated it to increase it's waterproofing. That longevity seems pretty remarkable to me. What would last longer?

- If I'm not mistaken, Jon Eisberg here likes Stamoid? I could be wrong, but I think he built his from that fabric.

- Stamoid is long lasting, but has a different look for sure
- The other issue is UV damage to thread
