The other issue is UV damage to thread
In Response To: Stamoid is long lasting, but has a different look for sure ()
I figure regular polyester thread dodger stitching is good for 5-8 years at most, due to UV. The only exception is if you use Gore Tex thread, very expensive and difficult to sew with.

- If I'm not mistaken, Jon Eisberg here likes Stamoid? I could be wrong, but I think he built his from that fabric.
