I can't believe anyone tried to go through

a pass during an Abaco Rage. I have sympathy for the family as well as for the captain who made the decision but that doesn't mean the guy isn't an idiot. I went through the Mazatlan Harbor entrance on a 3 foot swell and had a real hard time talking myself into it. It was broad daylight with perfect visibility and I swore I would never do anything like it again. At night, rough weather and a pass with a bad reputation that was unmarked? Come on now, that was just dumb and I can't come up with a single reasonable reason for it. None, zero, nada. Please, may I never get so screwed up that I make such a mistake. When I was in the Abacos 20 years ago, everyone I talked to kept warning me about the passes and how dangerous they were. It's not like it's a secret.
