Apple products
In Response To: Apple appeal ()

are over-priced and gimmicky. Remember that desktop Mac which sold like hot potatoes simply because
it came in your choice of different colors? Hardly a technological breakthrough - although they clearly took
that page out of the playbook of Alfred Sloan. They also nickel and dime you to death with the need to
purchase "apps". And, actually, they have acted much more like a monopoly than IBM did in the same
period: how many years was it before Apple allowed other firms the ability to sell software applications
which ran on the Apple platforms? Whatever you want to do with a phone or computer seems to cost
more - often a LOT more - if you own a Apple. Of course, for some specialized tasks, Apple computers might
have a (software) edge: movie editors and graphic artists, for example, swear by them.

For most consumers, buying an Apple computer just doesn't compute. A new Netbook costs how much?
A new Windows based computer costs what? Now compare those prices to Apples. And what's more,
if you want to claim that Apples are more durable, and are more concerned with use at sea than price,
compare an Apple laptop to a Toughbook.

OTOH, if you have children and want to impress them, buy Apple products. If you have
a young daughter and purchase them in pink then she will be most impressed!
