If you drop that iPad or iPhone in a public place it will be stolen before it hits the ground, and so will your information.
BTW my Toshiba/Win7 netbook "sleeps" quite nicely and is awake in about 1 second, with password prompt. Battery life is about 10-12 hours in constant use, or about 3-4 days in sleep. I just close the cover to put it to sleep. It's screen is protected that way (unlike an iPad) and it's lighter to carry than an iPad.
HP just came out with a Windows7 tablet that will be a an iPad alternative for business users. It's called the Slate 500. (Any product that uses i-Tunes to sync is not suited for business.)
