I almost hit a bunch of small canoes off El Salvidore

() We were motoring down the Pacific coast of El Salvidore about 8 miles offshore and about 2am ran through a fleet of about 30 fishing canoes. No lights and small. They didn't show up on radar till they were 1/2 mile away and only some of them. We had to weave through them with a spotlight at 2 knots.
They fish offshore usually with some of them lit but this time none had any light at all. If there was a light it must have been a candle.

- You're correct that NO sensible person would set the waypoint on a fatal headland, then have an autopilot steer there.

- Every chartplotter I know of has a split screen.

- There's no reason to go wide.
- Split screens w/ radar overlay gives you a lot of options
