When refrigeration became the norm on sailboats, everything in power generation and storage onboard changed.

Now with an increase in electric sail handling, it may have to change again. And this even as new sailboats head to lighter more efficient sailing designs.

On the other hand, maybe design will also head the other way with more efficient winches and sailhandling advantages, less power hungry systems, that will result in even more weight reduction,...and better performance?

I guess I see it going both ways.
