Why should anyone have to be able to do 100% of their own boat maintenance, if they can't or don't want to?

Most people don't and that's not likely to change. Most will write the checks that pay the marine businesses, many of which support public water access for all of us.
Me, I like to do most of it, but some I do only to save money.

- Well, did it all 'back in the day'. Not now.
- The mechniacal and electrical things you "should" be alble to do only depends on your sailing area.
