Most people that have boatyards do all their work, have a lot of experience. They tend to stick with people they know and trust(trust is built over time). They understand the business costs related to getting this work done correctly, and they've been doing it long enough to not be shocked by what it costs to get things done today. When they write their checks, they often feel the money is well spent, or they go someplace else.
On the other hand, if you rarely hire things out, you may be more apt to be unhappy with the experience, sometimes for poor service, but most of all, because it hurt to write the check.
