I'm with Tom …

I'd like to be able to do 100%, but certain things I don't have the qualifications, experience, or tools, etc. Some electronic issues and for instance and I don't think I'd tackle servicing my injectors or hydrostatically cleaning my heat exchanger. But, I would make it a point to be there when this work was happening and helping out, so I might save a bit of money and get a better understanding of what happens. Then, like Tom says, there are certain things I simply don't have time to do, or do not want to do, and maybe a maintenance coat of varnish fits under this category. Or a bottom job … I've always done mine, but not sure how much longer that'll happen, especially if I won the lottery. And I also find with a helper, or I should say me helping a pro, for some jobs it's simply more fun and interesting working with another person, most times more productive and satisfying, and I like learning new tricks from competent and experiences folks who know what they are doing. I welcome the opportunity to learn from a pro … assuming that guy is in fact a pro, which is an entirely different conversation. In reality, if you're employed full or most time, I don't see how you can maintain a boat to the standards I would expect/desire, particularly if you have a family and other hobbies/interests. If not employed or retired, that's another story. Cheers, John
