A well maintained boat is not at risk in salt water or fresh water or brackish water. Well maintained is the key. And where idiots got it into their heads that storing with the mast up is bad for the boat and rigging is beyond me. If it's on a suitable cradle or stands as others stated below, it's fine...
Be careful of the Dr Electrons and Danny Boys out there.
