Not necessarily ... depends on where it was

sailed ... here in the Puget Sound we have little to no salt air, you know the stuff that corrodes auto's out in a year or so ... if you look around at the vehicles you never see a rusty vehicle (unless its from the Midwest, Ca, East coast or Hawaii) ... our waters are less salinated because of all the surrounding mountains (Olympics to the West - Cascades to the East) ie;rivers that flow into the sound 24x7 make for less salty waters ... and we rarely get wave action that generates the saltier air ... it may have something to do with not being as hot as well as the boats I've seen and sailed in Florida, Connecticut, Hawaii & Grand Cayman (places I've lived and sailed in) are generally rustbuckets compared to a similar aged vessel around here ... and if your a wooden boat the pickling effect of salt water vs fresh water has benefits (especially if its totally submerged~grins~) beyond my expertise ...
