Hamilton Marine has a great price right now. The V700 looks like a nice piece of gear, but I won't know how it actually works until next summer. The down side of the new electric windlass is the cost of the rode. I paid nearly as much for the chain as I paid for the windlass itself.

I can tell you that raising anchor with a windlass is a snap compared to by hand. When I put a manual windlass on my Allied, what had been a real chore (all chain rode) became simply a bit of a task. I have used an electric windlass and it is MUCH easier than the manual windlass
