I think that the choice of windlass depends to a certain extent on what you're doing and what you're anchoring with.
Personally, I haven't found that setting the anchor from the cockpit has been that useful -- though I could do it with the binnacle mounted bi-directional switch.
I believe that picking the anchor up depends on i) whether you want or need to clean-off the chain/rode; and ii) the match of your rode and windlass from a functional standpoint.
