Lewmar has discontinued the Concept One windlass and they are heavily discounted. Have seen it advertized on a couple of sights for under $500, Original retail was close to $2,000. The only negative is the body is aluminum but given the life expectancy of a windlass, don't see that as a problem. The Concept one is a 750 watt windlass but rated for the pull of other's 1000 watt windlasses.
From experience, the installation of an electric windlass is more than the cost of the windlass. For a typical run on a 35' boat, you'll need two 20' runs of 2 gauge wire, a 100 amp breaker, a controller, and up/down switches. This stuff adds up real quick.
Sure is nice to push a button and wind up 200' of rope and 130' of chain with nothing more than a little strain on your index finger.
