I've seen that sort of accident before, on Lake Erie, although the results weren't so disastrous (calmer water). Guy wiped out his spade rudder, bending the stock probably 20 degrees, by striking the end of a breakwall that was submerged.

- For what it's worth, according to someone close by, the boat hit the southern jetty, about 80 yards inside the inlet.
