Ask my family. In fact after I hit a well charted (not marked) rock and near sunk our boat over a decade ago. the first thing I did was buy a chart plotter.

I know I know, there are problems with them But for someone like me, often with distractions and what not going on around the cockpit at all times with a family of four, the chart plotter keeps track of me.

I have the paper charts, know how to use them, and did for years. But the chart plotter is always on, on my boat. I use it conjunction with other means, but I wouldn't go much of anywhere without one any more.
