() It could happen to anyone. I'm very sorry about the loss of your boat. From Tom's posts it sounds like you put your heart and soul into its restoration. Also glad no people were lost.
Hopefully you will get a fair insurance settlement and sail again soon.
BTW something similar WOULD have happened to me if not for keeping my eyes glued to the chart-plotter at the helm. One could argue that I wouldn't or shouldn't have tried to enter if I didn't have one, but in hindsight I shouldn't have entered even with one. - For what it's worth, according to someone close by, the boat hit the southern jetty, about 80 yards inside the inlet.
