of many production boats. I'm not defending them, just stating a fact. The balls are typically stainless surrounded by nylon or Teflon bushings, much like a knee socket is surrounded by cartilage. As for the body being bronze, I'm pretty sure they are or they wouldn't likely last 10 years and still be in this condition.

I have considered Maralon, and would also consider new bronze valves such as those made by Groco or Conbraco/Apollo. I don't see the need for flanges, never heard of any thru-hull unscrewing in place, and I don't even see how it's possible with a hose attached. Any such accident would have to involve a stupid person using a wrench.
