I'm calling out Art on that one! Marelon is NPT

I have Marelon thru-hull mushrooms and ball valves in my hand right now that fit each other nicely, but will not fit a straight thread fitting made of bronze, also at-hand. Marelon to Marelon = 7-8 threads mating surface. Marelon to bronze = 3-4 threads mate. I would not trust a Marelon fitting that only had less than half the available thread depth engaged.

- We have a Vetus (I think) flap on our engine discharge
- It all depends on how much more you are willing to do
- You can also install a check valve in the exhaust just before the exhaust port

- The fact they are common does not mean they are good!
- Maralon (not just plastic) are fine in the right applications
- I would replace them with proper seacocks
- OK I'm going to replace these thru-hulls, so next question
