sort of a thru hull "one up man ship" going on there... "here do it this way..." followed by "no, this is the only way to do it" Even though these parts didn't even exist when your boat was built...
How about Bronze thru hulls and Marlon valves??? Does that also eliminate the electrolysis issue... essentially isolating the thru hull from the rest of the boat via a plastic isolator?

- Maralon (not just plastic) are fine in the right applications
- I would replace them with proper seacocks
