I learned two things today (and Art was right)
In Response To: I'm calling out Art on that one! Marelon is NPT ()
One is that Marelon is NPS.
The other is that I'll never use it again on a mushroom fitting. I don't know if the fitting I had was defective or there was a hidden hairline crack, but the mushroom head popped right off as I was tightening the fitting. I went to the local WM and sure enough, the NPS mushrooms in bronze fit just as well, so I used a bronze though-hull with a Marelon valve.
(BTW I used 4200 for sealant.)

- We have a Vetus (I think) flap on our engine discharge
- It all depends on how much more you are willing to do
- You can also install a check valve in the exhaust just before the exhaust port

- The fact they are common does not mean they are good!
- Maralon (not just plastic) are fine in the right applications
- I would replace them with proper seacocks
- OK I'm going to replace these thru-hulls, so next question
