well, the boat would sink and be ripped apart
but the sailor, depending on where s/he was at the time, might die of drowning or hypothermia. In other words, it would be a gruesome end for the boat, but not necessarily for the skipper or crew. 6 or a half dozen? Is it better to be ripped apart of see your boat die before you and have time to contemplate your immanent demise?
