I know of a CT54 that was hit by a tanker, got caught and drug along the side. Did a lot of damage but stayed afloat.
I'm not trying to bad mouth Catalina's. I like them a lot. I just think that in an effort for performance sacrifices are made, most of them in the thinner/lighter dept. Using hi-tech stuff isn't always a replacement for plain old heavy,thick, bulletproof.
I agree, Gulfster's aren't the most robust boats but a hell of a lot more robust than a Hunter. Then again,,, if we get pulled into a prop it's over.
