That's impossible with an inflatable and would have been a problem with dinghys not designed with towing in mind. Not ideal, but it made it in one piece and shipped a quart of seawater. If it became dangerous, I'd toss it off the cleat.
But with 30 years of coastal towing, we have a few tricks. Besides, there's no good alternative for us.
