In the Gulf of Maine behind my 31 foot Tartan a 10 foot Avon could never fit on deck and rolling it up was such a chore and messy that I stopped doing it six months after purchase. I was sleeping a crewmate was steering on an over-night back home. His idea was to just keep on course. A fresh following wind and sea developed causing the Avon to lift and surf towards the mother ship and before the hapless crew knew what to do the Avon was upside down and porpoising. I has some interesting times sorting things out. All I lost was the seat.
